| | Partied with James Coburn last night. Episode "The Case of the Envious Editor" (1961) of my Perry Mason collection. This was a year after Coburn starred in The Magnificent Seven. According IMDb, he was one busy fellow around then. Passed away ten yeas ago.
For lunch today, we had seared chicken breast with quinoa, steamed parsnips, stewed carnival squash and avocado. Apple wedges for appetizers. The quinoa was a little over-salted. Not bad for Mary's first attempt though. Overall, a fabulous meal. Full of flavors.
I was in back, checking out the cantaloup vine, when Sweetie called me to the front porch. Little Leah Marie was paying us a surprise visit! Her Aunt Mary was delighted.
Leah was accompanied by her mother Denise and friend Julie. Julie is from Scotland. Directs a child care facility there. Denise met her when they were working together at a summer camp in North Carolina.
Julie is a moderate vegetarian. In other words, while eggs and dairy products are alright, her lips will not touch the flesh of animals.
From talking to Julie, I could tell she wouldn't mind at all if Scotland were to secede from Great Britain. Music to an old Confederate's ears.
It was a nice long visit. Mary and I totally forgot the movie we were going to watch. Leah finally got sleepy. Worn out by all the attention perhaps. End of visit. One that Mary will always remember.
Deborah called. Filled me in on Mother's appointment with Dr. Tidmore today. That's getting to be a weekly event.
Life is good.
