  • victory

Worked up a good case of nerves early, wondering what will become of Mother when she can't walk at all. A few Hail Mary's and Pater Nosters got me through it.

Big day for the World Cup. Quarter Finals. We first watched a real nail-biter that had Brazil edging out Chile by penalties.

Lunch break. Tomato and onion smothered beef chunks on yolk-free egg noodles, together with a steamer of baby potatoes, baby corn, broccoli, red bell pepper and carrots.

We watched Colombia frustrate Uruguay 2-0. Sitting next to a fan like Mary, I think I could enjoy a game in any sport. The victory of her native Country's team made Mary's day, and therefore mine.

After a light supper and my inhaler treatment, I spent a couple of pleasant hours at the outpost.

We will have to keep tomatoes on our menu for a while. About sunset, we harvested ten!

    76.7 °F, clear.

  • pretty food ~ but I sure don't understand soccer at all ~ except the goals! :D

  • Yummy plateful of beautiful food!
    Hurrah for Mary's team winning!
It is fun to sit beside someone who
is a real fan (if one doesn't go deaf
    in the process)! ;-)

  • my mom's 88 yr old and she's been in a wheelchair at the nursing home for a long time and she just forgot how to walk? she has dementia.

  • I think your mom is doing well - no need to dwell on what ifs... The future will be what it will be. We have just a few little marble sized green tomatoes on the plants so far. The zucchini is going well and we'll have to watch carefully or we'll end up with baseball bat sized zucchinis!I'm hoping to make some stuffed tomatoes yet this summer from the garden bounty. Time will tell.

  • Your mum looked very well in the previous post. The question of aging and all what is related is true for all of us .
I am glad you look like in better shape . I bet it is due to the world ' s cup!! :)

  • I watched the Brazil Chili game---That Chili team were all over the fiend frustrating Brazil, but the team in yellow won. Great game.

  • I'm happy for Mary that her team won, and that you enjoyed the game as well.
    Dinner looks yummy, and filling.

  • That plate looks amazing! I'm just about to prepare my lunch and that photo has me drooling a bit!

I didn't get a chance to watch this weekend's games. I was a bit bummed that Greece isn't moving on, but pleased that Netherlands are on. I hope Germany makes it through. Glad that Mary's team won!

RYC: Haha yes, buddy71 knows me well. I can't wait to open my package tomorrow, since I promised him that I'd wait for my birthday. He pretty much knows that I like peacocks and assorted liquors/beers haha.

  • I watched those games, at my hotel in Frankfurt. It is amazing, the difference between interest in the World Cup here in the U.S., and the interest everywhere else.
