out of kilter
Stressful day. Mother couldn't/wouldn't get out of bed this morning. Arrived only at noon. Threw the whole day out of kilter.
Mary with Harrison.
Pork chops for lunch, with zipper cream peas from George's garden, turnips, turnip greens, tomato and cornbread. Honeydew melon for appetizer. Butter pecan ice cream during the card game.Mother ate with rollers still in her hair. Mary brought the dryer into the kitchen and Mother played cards while her hair dried. Awkward.
Marion had a rougher than usual day. His two-o'clock medication didn't kick in as expected. He joined me in gasping for air.
During all the Helter Skelter, the Canadian called. Fortunately, Bill and George were at the warehouses to show him around.
Delores picked up Marion. Deborah came for Mother. At odds with Mary.
Deborah uses a strident tough love approach with Mother. Mary's the opposite.
At the outpost till dark, talking to George.

Sorry to hear that everyone was out of sorts. I'm glad you could retreat to the outpost and have a pleasant time there and talk to George!Turnips are OK but I really don't care for the greens... my mother on the other hand seems to really like them.
Glimpses of your life give me some sense of normalcy as I deal with the daily issues of my own mother's aging. Pushing 90, my mom is experiencing typical symptoms of the aging brain. I don't call it Alzheimer's or dementia, it's simply the decline of the mind that accompanies the decline of the body. My mom is showing me how to pass on with dignity and I appreciate the lessons. Not being particularly religious, I do think we are here to learn all that's presented to us as long as we're here. Who knows when these lessons will prove valuable. I'm more like Mary when it comes to imposing certain behaviors on Mom. She's an adult even when she acts childlike and is entitled to respect for her wishes.
Even visibly weaker than before your mother and marion keep up the card game.
Mary is sweet and devoted .
In friendship

As usual, I am very envious of your meals. lol
Bummer when people cannot cooperate. I am mentally preparing myself for the time where I will need to cooperate with others providing me care. I want to be cooperative.
I like pork chops, though I haven't bought any in awhile. Perhaps I should.
I hope today is a more pleasant day for you.
Harrison is adorable ~
