tenuous
Mary phoned Blanca yesterday evening. Blanca has lost her job. Was asked to do some business under the table to avoid taxes. Refused on principle.
Boneless chicken breast for lunch today, with stewed yellow baby potatoes and a mix of broccoli, carrots, sweet peas and baby corn.Mother was what's normal for her nowadays at cards. It has become a somewhat somber routine. Especially when brother Marion doesn't join us. We'd probably call it quits, if it weren't the only mental exercise she gets all week. She maintains a tenuous connection to the world around her. These weekly card games cannot stop.
We took Mother home after the game, depositing a check for her at First Farmers on the way.

Hurrah for Blanca and her principles! It is what our country needs way more of these days! I will pray that she is blessed for her honesty, and have an even better job!
You are a good caring, son. She does need the mental stimulation, and the time with you & Mary, and your brother, too when he's able.
I am saddened to hear that Blanca lost her job, but proud of her for maintaining her principals. Shame on her boss for asking her to do something illegal. She could probably get him in a lot of trouble for that, and for wrongful firing, but then she is probably better off avoiding his potential wrath if she tells, since he's already proven to be a person to make bad choices. I pray she will find another job soon.
Has your mother ever tried word puzzles or soukou? Those are also good mind stimulates that she could have fun with when she is alone. Even a classic jigsaw puzzle with a pretty scene is good for the brain. John Tesh, a well known radio show host that offers up educational bits on all sorts of topics, and who has a team of researchers, told that gazing upon a picture of pretty scenery is calming and good to do frequently because of the subsequent health benefits that a less stressful mind achieves.
I know what you mean cause my mom and I used to talk about all the relatives and all 8 of her kids every week but now she doesn't join me but I go ahead and run down the list for her now.
Mental decline is worse than the physical for the caregivers. I hope your mother has some more good days and that the good ones are not too few and far between...
I hope someone sees what a treasure your friend is, and that she gets a better job, post-haste.
Prayers for your dear mother.
I am watching at your plate with interest because my blood urea rate has increased a lot lately and I wonder if I should eat more veggies like you and much less meat .
In friendship

I think most everyone agrees. Too much meat is not healthy.
