  • far gone

    [Wed]

More of Mary's soup for lunch, then we headed for town.

Mailed Christmas cards at the post office. From there we drove to Walmart to get the Durango serviced and to do our weekly grocery shopping. In the Auto Center I was hailed by some fellow who thought he knew me very well. Looked kinda familiar, but I hadn't the faintest idea who he was.

    Who is he??

Ran into Sharon Downing, daughter of "Bubba" Downing who used to fill in for me at Belfast Rock. Sharon is seventy now, but looks as pretty as when she was in brother Marion's high school class.

    Sharon with John.

At checkout, Mary gives a lecture to Nancy on beer marinade for turkey breast.

Call from grandson Johnny in Kissimmee. He back-ended a girl today. He is not insured. Mary was upset.

Back home, Mary unloaded the groceries. We headed back to town. Kroger for prescriptions this time. I was again hailed by a lady who looked very familiar. Again, I drew a blank. Twice in one day? Am I so far gone?

Keep moving. Keep the blues away.

    39.5 °F, mostly cloudy.

  • I don't think you are losing it! I can't remember people's names most of the time!! I live for the name tags. I know a woman that works in the main office (I've known her for 20 years) and saw her at the grocery and couldn't for the life of me remember how I knew her or what her name was. Then saw her at work and it all clicked!

  • Beer marinade for turkey breast sounds delicious! I agree with Val about remembering people -- when I worked, I used to tell people I'd remember their names after I'd met them 3 times. It's especially difficult when you see them in unfamiliar contexts!

  • Long time since I've been around. Went back and got caught up on the doings of you and Mary. Leah is really growing! And both she and Harrison are such cute little kids... they bring real joy, don't they! They should be great fun this Christmas! :-)

  • I know the feeling ~ blanks where my brain should be ~ frustrating!

  • Always love your phoots.. I am lousy with names. Now I try to enter them in my I_phone under Notes.

  • They were probably sometime customers, from a bygone transaction or two. Tell your grandson that is no way to meet a lady!

  • Is it my imagination or do Mary and Nancy look like sisters?
